I recently spent a morning with a new family here in Cary for a relaxed newborn session. When I do Cary in home photography, the goal is always to keep things simple and let the family stay in their comfort zone. We were able to do the whole session in baby’s beautifully decorated nursery, which provided a great backdrop! I love the mural backdrop wallpaper that the parents had put up in his room.
The parents decided to use a piece from my own collection of newborn knit outfits. This particular outfit is from a shop that I love called Tiny by Nature. They picked out a simple, neutral set that fit him perfectly and kept the focus on him rather than a busy pattern. We started with some individual photos of the baby while he was sleepy, then moved into photos with the parents.

One of the best parts of shooting at home is that we don’t have to leave the pets out. Their dog joined us for a few shots in the nursery, and he was incredibly calm around his new brother. It’s always nice when the “first baby” of the house gets to be part of the memory.
Doing these sessions at home takes the pressure off. There’s no need to pack a massive bag or worry about travel timing—we just work around the baby’s schedule in the space where they are most comfortable.
