I photographed this beautiful couple’s maternity session around Christmastime. So I was thrilled to meet their new little boy for cary lifestyle baby pictures! He is such a cute baby and mom and dad were such naturals with him. It was great to photograph them in their home, because I could tell they were very comforable there. Baby boy was asleep in the beginning of the session, then he woke up and showed me his beautiful eyes! In-home sessions are perfect for families who want images done in the comfort of their house, without having to scramble around and get the baby ready to leave the house in the morning.
During in-home newborn sessions, I usually take some photos on a bed. It can be a bed in the primary bedroom, or a guest bed- wherever the decor and light is best! In this case, I chose to take most of the family photos in this couple’s guest bedroom. There were windows directly on one side of the bed, which is the ideal lighting situation. The decor of the room was nice and light, so it looked really nice with their clothing.
One challenge of taking photos on a bed is how soft they are! The tendency is to lay and slump back on the pillows. Especially as a new parent… those pillows call to you! But it is much more flattering to sit upright in bed photos. For moms who have had a c-section or are especially sore after birth, I will fluff up the pillows behind her to create more support. The result is that mom and dad look cozy, cuddling new baby!
