Alysha [Kaiserslautern Portrait Photographer]

Remember that crazy thunder-snow we had a few weeks ago?? During that, I was taking photos with the beautiful Alysha at her home! She was kind enough to volunteer to let me practice more of the indoor lighting techniques I’ve learned on her. While the very strange weather proved to be a challenge at times, ultimately we got some really neat photos out of it. Check out some of my favorites here!

I was also able to get a few shots of Alysha with her mother! This one was my favorite!

Thank you, Alysha, for being such a wonderful model!

Project 365 [Kaiserslautern Photographer]

Hi folks! I have an adorable newborn session coming your way soon… but before I post it, I want to show you my completed week 1 of my 365 project! Starting on January 1st, many photographers embark take on the challenge of taking a photo every day for the entire year. I tried this last year (although I started in August)- annnnd promptly failed. But this year I have a renewed sense of motivation and I’m really trying to define and find my personal style. Remember my egg blog post? Well, this is another thing is an ongoing journey as an artist. I’ve completed my first week of the 365 project, and I am proud of that. I’ve made a separate 365 blog on tumblr where you can view the images larger and follow my photos every day. Wish me luck in the coming week!

A Single Egg [Kaiserslautern Photographer]

When you look at photography as a business, it can sometimes be overlooked that, at it’s very core, photography is an ART. A photographer is an artist. And as with any art, a photographer is constantly working on making his or her vision a reality. It takes practice and education. Stepping back and doing personal projects and exercises are very important towards growth as an artist. I am a member of a forum called Clickin’ Moms which is a great educational resource and inspiration. Last month, there was a creative exercise of photographing an egg. It is a simple artist’s exercise to study light and texture. It may seem silly, but it was actually a lot of fun- and everyone’s photos were amazing. I would encourage anyone with a DSLR to do this simple exercise- it’s so easy! These were my favorite images.

There were a lot of images on the forum with cats playing with the eggs- I don’t know what it is about them, but Mingus sure was interested! haha 🙂

Thanks for looking- now, go pick up your camera and try it yourself!!

schönen Deutschland [Kaiserslautern photographer]

So far, most of December here in Germany has been gray and dreary. It’s been snowing on and off. However, two days ago I awoke to blue skies! So I scarfed down my breakfast and decided to go out for a drive to take some photos. I found a nice spot right outside of Weilerbach. Enjoy!

I love it here 🙂
