Raleigh Newborn Photographer
Simple. Sweet. Timeless.
There is nothing like those first few weeks of a baby’s life. After all of the anticipation during pregnancy, you finally meet your little one and your life is forever changed. A lot gets lost in the haze of sleeplessness after birth, but those sweet little features change in the blink of an eye. Whether you are a first time parent or having your fourth child, it is worth it to capture those tiny details before they change!
Newborn photos are treasured keepsakes for the whole family. If you are looking for an experienced newborn photographer in Raleigh, NC, you have come to the right place. I have attended several in-person and online professional workshops and have extensive experience handling newborns. With over seven years in the industry, I have photographed hundreds of little ones. Safety and comfort is my number one priority during your baby’s first photoshoot.
The two types of newborn sessions
I find that some of my clients prefer a more “unposed” approach to newborn photography, and some love the attention to small details in a posed newborn session. Because of this, I offer two different newborn sessions. The first is an “unposed” session, which is a more organic approach where I allow the baby to settle into a variety of comfortable positions that they lead, and the baby has their diaper on the whole time (covered by partial swaddles). The second is a “posed” session, where the baby is gently placed into specific positions and special attention is given to exact finger and body placement. It is up to you which style you prefer- I can also offer a combination of the two within your session. You can view examples from unposed sessions here, and examples from posed sessions here.
When to book your session
It is best to reserve your newborn session while you are pregnant to ensure availability! I prefer to photograph newborns when they are between 6-18 days new. During this time, the baby is typically very sleepy and relaxed during their session. After this period, the baby starts to get stronger and more wakeful.
When you reserve your newborn session, I pencil your due date into my calendar. Due to the unpredictable nature of due dates, the actual date of the session is scheduled after baby is born.
My in-home studio in Cary, NC is full of props and fabrics that are consistent with the photos that you see on this website. I set everything up before your session to ensure that your gallery is cohesive. You don’t need to bring anything, unless you have a special item like an heirloom blanket or stuffed animal that you’d like to include. The session is your time to sit back and relax, as I work with your sweetie!
