There is nothing like those first few weeks of a baby’s life. After all of the anticipation during pregnancy, you finally meet your little one and your life is forever changed. A lot gets lost in the haze of sleeplessness after birth, but those sweet little features change in the blink of an eye. Whether you are a first time parent or having your fourth child, it is worth it to capture those tiny details before they change!
Newborn photos are treasured keepsakes for the whole family. If you are looking for an experienced newborn photographer in Raleigh, NC, you have come to the right place. I have attended several in-person and online professional workshops and have extensive experience handling newborns. With over 12 years in the industry, I have photographed hundreds of little ones. Safety and comfort is my number one priority during your baby’s first photoshoot.
The types of studio newborn sessions
Everyone looking for a newborn photographer has different needs! To accommodate this, I currently offer two different types of studio newborn sessions.
The mini swaddled newborn session is great for those who are looking for a “short and sweet” session in the studio. Baby is swaddled with the diaper on the whole time. Parent photos are not included, but can be added on for an additional fee.
The full studio session is a longer session which includes more setups. Some photos are swaddled, but it and also includes “posed” images of baby, where they are partially wrapped and/or naked (depending on parent preference). This session takes longer and includes more images. Family photos are included. This session is perfect for parents looking for a lot of variety, and love the photos of newborns curled up in those cute poses on their tummies/sides.
I also offer Lifestyle in-home newborn sessions.
When to book your session
It is best to reserve your newborn session while you are pregnant to ensure availability! I prefer to photograph newborns when they are between 6-18 days new. During this time, the baby is typically very sleepy and relaxed during their session. After this period, the baby starts to get stronger and more wakeful.
When you reserve your newborn session, I pencil your due date into my calendar. Due to the unpredictable nature of due dates, the actual date of the session is scheduled after baby is born.
My in-home studio in Cary, NC is full of props and fabrics that are consistent with the photos that you see on this website. I set everything up before your session to ensure that your gallery is cohesive. You don’t need to bring anything, unless you have a special item like an heirloom blanket or stuffed animal that you’d like to include. The session is your time to sit back and relax, as I work with your sweetie!
